I remember seeing an early version of this program on my uncle’s computer in the late 80s or very early 90s. Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing ( Figure C) has been around for what seems like forever. If you look at the Windows property sheet for the executable, the details tab says the the product version is 5.2.0.0. I couldn't find anywhere inside the program to tell me what version of the software was running. If you ask about updates in the program it says that there's an update to version 5.0 and sends you to a webpage that says you need to pay for the upgrade. you must sign up for an email list in order to get the download link to the trial software The intermission wasn't too bad in Chrome (about 2 seconds), but in Firefox - my default browser - it would take 10 seconds or more between pages between each page and counts up from 0-100%. However getting a trial was a little frustrating: Not a deal killer, but a little irritating. One aspect I think could be improved is that you must use the mouse to navigate the buttons in the GUI. Mike B I don't know how this tutor compares with others - it seemed fine and I bought a license to help someone in my household who wants to learn.
